Your CCTV hardware is the eyes of your security system, but the client software is how you see what it sees. These applications are your portal to live feeds, recordings, and critical alerts. Hilook provides two powerful options to access your cameras: a desktop client and a mobile app. Understanding the role of each is key to getting the most out of your system.

The HiLookVision mobile app, available for both iOS and Android, is perfect for business owners who are constantly on the move or homeowners wanting peace of mind while on holiday. Remote view on the app gives you the incredible convenience of checking live feeds, reviewing past recordings, and receiving instant motion alerts directly on your device. This immediate access ensures you never miss a moment, no matter how far you are from your main monitor. Setting up the app is a very simple process:

  1. Download app
  2. Agree to policies
  3. Select your region
  4. Click register and fill in details and select get security code
  5. Input security code and select finish

Before you can enjoy monitoring your cameras from anywhere, there are a couple of configuration steps to consider on your Hilook recorder itself. These initial settings are the foundation of a secure and accessible system, so ensuring they are addressed from the start is beneficial for a smooth experience.

We’ve all been there – a forgotten password can turn a simple task into a major headache, potentially locking you out of your own security system when you need it most. By linking a verified email address during the initial setup, you create a safety net. This ensures that if you ever forget your password or move away and need to leave your log in info to the next person, you have a simple and secure way to regain access to without needing to contact technical support. Network configuration during recorder setup looks like this:

  1. Put in username, password and email for password reset
  2. Set date & time
  3. Make sure DHCP is enabled
  4. Set your own verification code
  5. Once your recorder is set up enable expert mode and click apply
  6. Enable daylight saving time (DTS)
  7. Click apply
  8. Go to network settings
  9. Plug in the router and wait until the network status switches to online.

With your recorder's foundational network and security settings configured, you're now on the final step to unlocking true mobility. The magic happens when you link your physical CCTV system to your personal account within the HiLookVision app.

Think of this step as pairing your hardware with the software. By adding your recorder’s unique identifier to your app, you are telling the secure Hilook cloud service which system belongs to you. Completing this connection successfully is the key that finally activates your ability to enjoy a seamless remote view of your property from anywhere in the world with an internet connection. You can do this yourself by following these instructions:

  1. Right click then select menu and input your password
  2. Click the settings icon
  3. Select network then platform access
  4. On the mobile app click add device then scan QR code
  5. Scan the QR code shown on the recorder then click the add button
  6. Click next and if you wish, change the name of the device
  7. At the installer authorisation stage click skip as you are doing it yourself

After following all these steps you will have successfully downloaded and signed up to the Hilook Mobile app on your phone, configured your recorder for a network connection, and added the recorder to your app to allow for remote view. You will now have access to live view, video playback and instant notifications. This is just the start of the app's capabilities, depending on your cameras and recorder you can use it to set up AI/ analytics or advanced features like smart hybrid light. You are now in full control of your surveillance, everywhere you go. All that's left to do now if you haven't already is to purchase your Hilook cameras.
