If you're installing IP cameras that aren't connected directly to an NVR then the chances are you will need a POE switch. A POE switch works like a normal switch but also adds power down the network cable from the ports. Devices, such as IP CCTV Cameras, that require power via a network cable can then be powered on.

This PoE Switch has 8 Gigabit PoE ports, designed for high speed quality performance as well as 2 dedicated uplink ports and clear LED indicators.

Great company. As a DIY installer, it was great to be able to contact Peter and the rest of the support team who were always able to help me resolve my problems with the system. Some of the questions I had were quite generic. Others were very technical including PoE, app config, account problems, alerts, IVS vs SMD etc and they guided me through all of it really well. My system has been running now for the best part a year and it is the best thing I ever did in terms of piece of mind. I have the system set to alert as soon as someone crosses a line or appears in a zoned area. People are often surprised when I open the door before they have even rang the door bell! I have also caught someone on camera at 1am trying my car door on the driveway. Fortunately, after 9pm at night, I have a schedule set up so that it says “you are under surveillance”. The would-be thief knew he had been seen and he scurried off to be with the other rats.
